If you joined the circus, what act would you most want to perform?
Ever since I watched Circus of the Stars as a kid, I always thought it would be most supremely fun to be on the trapeze. It looked like swinging, only with more altitude, and when they're done, they get to fall into a big bouncy net. What's not to love?!
My second choice would be juggler, because you don't need a lot of equipment to perform, so you can do it anywhere.
My third choice would be to learn anything those Cirque du Soleil people do -- so dexterous and agile and strong!
Have you ever walked out of a movie?
Submitted by Jack Yan.Not often, but once memorably, from The Craft. Angsty teenage witches on a mission of vengeance or something. I was with my friend Shelley, and maybe Mary Lou (can't remember now), but we gave The Craft about 20 mins, and decided it wasn't worth it. We remembered that a movie with Richard Gere was starting about that time at the theater next door, so we swapped over. Turned out to be Primal Fear, which was riveting and a much better choice for our entertainment dollar.
How are you spending Valentine's Day?
I made sexy breakfast clafouti (I really love my husband, because I pitted a bunch of cherries by hand for this breakfast). Soon we are going out to lunch with some Karate friends. This afternoon will be low-key. Tonight the Krewe of Orion rolls downtown, so we will go stand with some friends and catch beads.
'Twas the night before Christmas... How are you spending this Christmas Eve? Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions you're excited about?
We are home together, just the two of us. I've been sipping on some scotch whisky (we got to open one Christmas present early) and playing video games. In previous years, either we would have put up the tree (an artificial one that belonged to my Grandma) around Thanksgiving, or we wouldn't put it up at all, anticipating being out of town for the holiday anyway. This year though, with the house in disarray still from Gustav, there's just no room for the big tree, but (we reluctantly decided) there's also no way we're able to travel. So today I finally went out and bought a short tree -- a live one too. I put it on a little marble-top table, and cleared off an end-table to stack the presents; put some tiny ornaments on it, and a string of lights, and it turned out okay. For the life of me though, I cannot find my tiny Santa; maybe it is still at Mom and Dad's (although I got all the other ornaments designated for me).
Tomorrow we will sleep in, exchange gifts, watch the Doctor Who Christmas Specials on BBCAmerica in the afternoon, and generally be lazy. For Christmas dinner: tuna casserole. That's what the K-man said he wanted. So be it. *grin*
Clothing, dinners, make-up, or gadgets... We all have things we like to splurge on. What do you think you buy too much of?
Lately, I would definitely say clothes. January 07, I decided to make a change in my life, by changing some of the foods I was eating, switching to diet soda. Now, I certainly haven't lost half my weight or anything, but it seems like I am always having to get new jeans because the ones I'm wearing are starting to droop down. In fact, for a while I was shopping, and complaining that I could never find anything that fit me right -- always gapping out in the back. Turns out my problem was that I was trying on jeans that were still too big.
(If you want the down and dirty numbers, in Jan 07, I was wearing jeans size 24 mostly. Today, depending on the store and brand, I'm wearing 8-12. In the 80s I think I was wearing 16, but I swear 16 today is a lot larger than it was back then.)
I've also had to pack up a lot of t-shirts, because I was buying men's xl (I like my shirts looser than fitted girly tees), and now I'm wearing men's M or women's L (in button-down shirts etc).
I also feel like I shop for clothes a lot because we do this live-action roleplay club, and I'm always trawling thrift stores for costume pieces. At least there it's thrift stores and cheap, but it's still a time investment.

What is the best present you have ever given?
Submitted by quornflour.
Several years ago, before Kenny and I were married, we agreed that we would exchange presents. I decided that the best present that I could get him was a Turbo GrafX -- that's an old videogame machine. It used little cards to hold the data instead of cartridges or cds. Anyway, it was the system that had the game called Military Madness, which Kenny spent many many hours playing while we were in college. I went on eBay and found a system, and the game, and didn't have to bid an arm and a leg. It was awesome to see his face when he opened his present.
Of course, a few years later, we found the same game for PSX under the title Nectaris Military Madness. Some of the details were different (Robbies instead of Charlies?), but basically it was the same game with the same graphics, but also with a lot more variants (alternate maps, etc).
Then the FAZ, before he moved away from HSV, gave us Pat's system, which had been the original system we played in college.
And about once a year ever since, Kenny still goes through a period when all he seems to play is Military Madness.
If you could perform alongside any artist (actor, dancer, musician, etc.), who would it be, and what would you perform?

With the Python boys, the Witch scene from The Holy Grail. Or the Bridge scene. Or the whole darn movie I s'pose.
If your Vox Neighborhood had a potluck dinner tonight, what dish, drink or dessert would you bring?
coincidence -- we went to a party tonight, and brought home-made hummus, veggies for dipping, and pita chips. Nummy. Not really of a Christmasy spirit as far as food goes, but it was a Saturnalia party anyway. :)

What a downer playlist (downer! downer! downer!). Till we get to the end, and see that it's all a big joke apparently. Or that someone is there to support me in this horrid situation.
