QotD: Too Much Is Never Enough
Clothing, dinners, make-up, or gadgets... We all have things we like to splurge on. What do you think you buy too much of?
Lately, I would definitely say clothes. January 07, I decided to make a change in my life, by changing some of the foods I was eating, switching to diet soda. Now, I certainly haven't lost half my weight or anything, but it seems like I am always having to get new jeans because the ones I'm wearing are starting to droop down. In fact, for a while I was shopping, and complaining that I could never find anything that fit me right -- always gapping out in the back. Turns out my problem was that I was trying on jeans that were still too big.
(If you want the down and dirty numbers, in Jan 07, I was wearing jeans size 24 mostly. Today, depending on the store and brand, I'm wearing 8-12. In the 80s I think I was wearing 16, but I swear 16 today is a lot larger than it was back then.)
I've also had to pack up a lot of t-shirts, because I was buying men's xl (I like my shirts looser than fitted girly tees), and now I'm wearing men's M or women's L (in button-down shirts etc).
I also feel like I shop for clothes a lot because we do this live-action roleplay club, and I'm always trawling thrift stores for costume pieces. At least there it's thrift stores and cheap, but it's still a time investment.
